MOCAF(モカフ / Museum Of Contemporary Art Fukushima)は、2021年3月11日14時46分、福島県富岡町に誕生したミュージアム。

The Museum of Contemporary Art Fukushima (MOCAF) was born in the town of Tomioka, Fukushima Prefecture, at 14:46 on March 11, 2021. On that day, only the revolving door that was its entrance opened. The building was demolished on the same day, and its entrance became firewood that was used to warm the bodies of the museum visitors.

March 11, 2022 saw the opening of a pop-up museum store.

The MOCAF holds an event once a year and promotes activities as vacant land that can always be accessed.

“What if there was a contemporary art museum in Fukushima?” Positioned in the post-3/11 context, the MOCAF grew out of this question and keeps prompting us to reconsider the true meaning of museums.

The siren signaling the start of a moment of silence broadcast over the speakers of disaster-prevention PA systems in cities in Fukushima at 12:46 on March 11, 2022 was relayed to the road on the grounds of Mori Art Museum. A mock-up of the MOCAF was installed on the road, and the moment of silence was shared with Tokyo along with the live broadcast at the very same time.
